Usage

Navbar is a mandatory, immutable component that must appear as the first element on every page. Its structure and navigational content are fixed — do not alter, reorder, or omit any navigation items. StructureThe Navbar is composed of three horizontal layers, stacked vertically: 1. Alert Bar: A dismissible full-width banner used to communicate time-sensitive system messages such as scheduled maintenance. This layer should only be present when there is an active alert to communicate. 2. Utility Nav: A slim top bar aligned to the right, containing: Language Selector — allows switching interface language Contact us — link to the contact page Trade Portal — external link Search — opens site search 3. Main Nav: The primary navigation row. Contains: Fáilte Ireland logo Navigation items VariantsDevice: Desktop, Tablet, MobileHeader type: Home (nav text is white on dark green main nav background), Inner State: Default and section-specific active states (e.g. Business supports, Research & strategy) The Home variant is used exclusively on the homepage. The Inner variant is used on all interior/sub-pages. On Mobile, the nav collapses and includes a hamburger-style open state (State=Mobile-Open). Usage notes for page designAlways place the Navbar at position y=0 at the very top of the page frame, before any hero or content module. Use Header type=Home only on the homepage; use Header type=Inner for all other pages. The Alert bar is optional. Include it only when the page design explicitly calls for an active system alert. Do not modify navigation labels or order — these are governed by the site information architecture.
